Championship Day & Year End round up!

Monday, August 4th, 2008

We concluded our 6th season of the mighty Westcoast Kickball League saturday, the premiere Independent Kickball league in America!

All hail the might Darkside as league champions!  After years of clawing, bitching, pummeling and assassinating (though never proven), they finally took the vaunted Championship trophy!  It took them three victories to do it, but they outlasted the booze and the sun to stay focused enough to down the pyriffic Pirates in a 4-1 victory.

Bluetooth Fannypack took the 1st annual Best of Taunts award, and received the incredible Yodeling Unicorn Trophy.  I would expect the competition to heat up a bit next year for the right to display that awesome trophy for a year.

Awesomtown!!1! won the Festival of Losers, and would have received a trophy if Lindsey Baker had not stolen it two years ago.

Tha Tang finally overcame all my bad calls and won the 1st annual Match-up of Mediocrity.

It was one heck of an after party, and the first one I can actually remember leaving (it was a personal goal of mine this year)!  Mindy had awards for most everyone!  I will list out the team awards and get this all posted on the web site soon.

Git Sum - 24 hour Party People

Awesomtown!!1! - Silliest Team

Danger Moustache - Hot Mamas

Barry Vail (the Nuge) won the Lindsay award

Matt Hodge was the inductee into the WKL Hall of Fame.

It was one heck of a season.  I want to personally thank all of you for your participation and help keeping it all together this year.  We still have the Nada Mucho band night on Friday, September 5th to look forward too. Please keep posting events, plays, bands to the league and we will keep everyone updated.  We might actually get a couple of winter events planned and done this year, but don’t hold your breath for them.  We also need to talk about a Solstice Parade planning committee.  I hope to see you all soon, or at least next June when we ramp it up again!
