Westcoast Kickball League

    Heya everyone!  It’s that time of the summer (well, late spring) again!  My name is Bud Lee, and I’ll be your Commissioner/”happy” ump for the summer.  I have been a participant in the WKL since the first pick-up scrimmage game which birthed (spat out) the original five teams.  I played on the Scissor Kids, Joy on the Mountain, Private School Punks, Team Atari, and this years incarnation, WNDRFL.  I helped Sarah by co-commishing (i.e. toadie) last year, and I have helped every year with umping and making up rules as we went along!  If anyone is looking to be my toadie, er co-commish let me know.  I can’t drink like this forever.

    I am really hoping to continue the long tradition of fun, “cheerfulness”, and debauchery that we have all worked so hard at establishing in this league.  Fun being the key word there.  We are all adults to one degree or another and I personally abhor drama, unless it’s the drama generated by a good ol’ adult kickball match.  Any time you feel like losing your cool over a bad bounce of the ball, just remember it’s a big red bouncing rubber ball, and have another swig.  I hope to see you all out there this summer, and I truly hope you all have fun playing!

 p.s.  I am a horrid speller, and I do not teach poetry to college students unlike your last commissioner, so live with it :)

So, you wake up Sunday morning with whip cream in your hair and a guilty conscience. You must have gone to the WKL party, where you danced, enjoyed, drank, did touchdowns, and stayed very, very late. Good for you!

Guess what? THE NEW CHAMPS, THE NEW VILLAINS, THE NEW LEADERS IN KICKBALL COMPETENCE ARE THE OLD PEOPLE!

Cap’n JT deserves it, as he has been here since season 1, always nice, always hanging out and making friends. We all saw him at the party Saturday, and we’re glad he came to represent for his team and get their awards.

In other news, wasn’t it FUCKING AWESOME AND CRAZY that Keytarded 1. accidentally got in the playoffs due to Jackass’s forfeit (lame), 2. they beat the Stash and were confused, 3. they beat Atari and were freaked out, 3. they were exhausted after 7 hours and still played the Old People, who obviously were going ot win, and 4. made out with a thousand people at the party later? Keytarded is probably the funnest thing EVER. I’m biased.

Kickball this Friday at Lower Woodland!! 7pm-ish!!

Here are the standings, which will not be updated on website till next week, as “tech dude” James on vacation. Please not that the playoffs are pretty much determined, and Jackass will not be coming BECAUSE THEY SUCK so the team next in line takes their spot, Keytarded, which will be a comedic tragedy. Final day is next Saturday 1-6 at BF Day. The final party will be at Matt Hodge’s house in Capitol Hill. It will be fun. Stay tuned for your invitation to the event and the order of games for Sat.
